Lockdown at NMU

This morning, Northern Michigan University as well as the local junior and senior high schools were closed because someone had threatened to do something dangerous. The authorities took measures to ensure student safety by locking down the buildings and searching for the person who made the threats. As you can imagine, parents feared for the safety of their children as they waited for word of the resolution of the crisis. Psalm 4:8 says, “ I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. “ Troubled people disrupt others routines and also their peace of mind. However, as followers of Jesus Christ, our peace of mind comes from God. That means when people become fearful, they can count on us to be calm and even joyful in the midst of troubling circumstances. The peace of God allows us to make clear-headed decisions and, In the end, it becomes a way for us to demonstrate the virtue of putting one’s faith in Jesus Christ. Dear Jesus, manifest your peace through your followers during this time of trouble.” Amen.
